Hurray! It’s our birthday! 🥳 Postcrossing celebrates 19 years of joy and connections today, and we’re marking the date with chocolate cookies… and a surprise!
But before that, a big thank you to all postcrossers for being part of this community and for helping make Postcrossing what it is today. It’s been 19 years of stories from around the world, 19 years of learning and sharing… and about one postcard received every 6 seconds — it feels unbelievable, doesn’t it?
Our gratitude goes also to the team and all the volunteers that make Postcrossing run smoothly — and to all of you who have supported the project financially over the years. We wouldn’t have made it this far without your help.
So we hope you can take a moment today to celebrate this anniversary with a little dance, and maybe a cookie or three! And, of course, with postcards too!
Now, about that surprise…
If you were in Postcrossing over a decade ago, you might remember we used to have a small shop… which didn’t see much action, and ended up closing. In recent years though, more and more people have been asking us where they could get Postcrossing merchandising, and we ourselves have long felt that it would be nice to have a platform for the fun stuff we’ve always wanted to make.
Setting up the logistics of a global shop is not an easy feat, but after we found a partner with sustainable production practices and warehouses on a few different continents, the challenge became much simpler. Once we designed the products for our first collection, it still took us quite a while to work through all the (seemingly endless) bureaucracy, but today we’re finally ready to re-launch it.
So, welcome to the new Postcrossing shop!
We’re super excited about the shop relaunch, and we hope you are too — we can’t wait to see all the Postcrossing merch being worn by real postcrossers!! 😍
Now that the shop is in place, every purchase will help support the project and make room for even more postal awesomeness in the future. We have lots of ideas for cool products we want to make and look forward to working with designers to bring them to life. If you have suggestions of things you’d like to see in the shop (other than postcards), let us know in the comments below!
PS: This is a new adventure for us, as we are new to the whole e-commerce thing. Please be patient with us while we iron out all the kinks. 🙏

Just a little but maybe obvious suggestion: the Postcrossing shop should sell postcards. The t-shirts and the mugs and all that it's OK, but that doesn't make the shop any different from every other merch shop. What characterizes Postcrossing are postcards, so they should have their place at the Postcrossing shop. And they'd be a good way to raise funds too. There are many postcrossers that like to collect meet-up postcards, there'll be for sure postcrossers that'd wish to get their hands on officialy-issued Postcrossing postcards.
Maybe is just me that I was a bit puzzled when I first saw the shop, but I think a Postcrossing shop without postcards is like a McDonald's without hamburguers.
In any case, congratulations for this step forward in this great proyect ^^.

Happy Birthday! I've only been here just over a year but I hope I'll be around for a long time to celebrate many more birthdays.
One small request for the shop - I know most t-shirts default to men's t-shirts, but considering that the majority of postcrossers are women, I find it interesting (or sad) that you do not offer women't t-shirts (usually better fitted, different necklines, smaller sleeves). As such I guess I'll be limited to a bag or mug.

Congratulations for the shop idea! I have some suggestions to that:
1. As earlier it was mentioned that people miss postcards there … Some time ago you asked people to create postcards what postcrossing means to them (I am not sure about the exact theme anymore) - however if I remember right you got hundreds of created postcards… what about taking the nicest, get the permission of the artists and print them for the shop?
2. I would love some small postcrossing items like keyring, stickers, rubberstamps, etc. as some low budget products which an organizer or participant of a meetup could use as a giveaway for the other participants.
3 I loved reading above about the idea of jewelry - image little tiny postcards as earrings or around the neck.
4. What about towels for sauna/pool - I am sure other people might get curious (website maybe should be mentioned on it as well?)
5. A pencilholder… I took a photo of mine, but. I guess here I cannot ad it - so if you should be interested, Ana and Paulo, please contact me via message.
And I am thinking of the very big postcrossing meetup planned in Berlin next year to celebrate 20 years of postcrossing - in my opinion, the shop should display its offer there as well! Sometimes the positive feeling of a meetup motivated to buy something 😉

Like many who have commented here, I was so very lucky to find Postcrossings during the pandemic, to be a part of a global community but each express our uniqueness and our passion for our local areas is brilliant.
As mentioned in these comments already by others, product suggestions of a large zipper or envelope style pouch to carry postcards in to & from the Postoffice and a pen to write with. Made of recycled materials would be awesome.
I am sure there is a book in here too for your 20th anniversary of your journey in creating this wonderful community. I recently bought a book, Lockdown Secrets; Postcards from the Pandemic and now thanks to Postcrossings am always on the lookout for vintage & unique postcards. A quick last minute suggestion, "be the Etsy" of the postcard world to allow artists and makers to sell their designs and support local talent. I have received some beautiful postcards from local artists which all adds to the true magic of your and our shared Postcrossings world.

Thanks to the Postcrossing team that made this project possible. I have been here for 14 years and I thank everyone for the postcards sent.I have really enriched my knowledge about the wonderful places around the globe. I wish a long life of this project which has become a hobby for me and with which children from all schools are also familiar. I realized this project with my students who were delighted to be able to exchange ideas, opinions and postcards with children from all over the world.We are all united in a lasting friendship thanks to this wonderful project.

yall should consider designing your own postcards to sell. You could even have your postcrossing community design their own art and feature it on your postcard or products :)
Dear friends, on July 11th I had a visit from the local newspaper in Delmenhorst. People there were interested in unusual hobbies, so I told them about postcrossing. Once the newspaper article is printed, I will be happy to send you a copy :-)

Every new card in the mailbox is a little surprise - Thank you for making these international connections possible! I'd love to see some postcards in the merchandise shop one day and maybe also albums or boxes to collect them? Possibilities are endless :-)

I ordered some stuff as soon as I saw the news and I'm now in possession of: a cup, a t-shirt and a shopper/shopping bag, all with the Postcrossing logo. I'm so happy, thank you all for doing this!!
Happy birthday, Postcrossing! Love the new shop! Would love to see a bag with a zipper, decal for my computer / mug / car, and maybe some earrings or something like that, and a small, maybe 15 cm tall seated stuffed animal with a Postcrossing shirt who could hold our pen.
Agree with the person who suggested postcards from meetups. Not sure if someone suggested the Postcrossing stamps and Maxicards issued by various countries. (I haven't read all 180+ comments.)

I like the shopping idea, I would love to order, but unfortunately, I cannot order anything because, no postcards incoming to Palestine, so I am sure the other gifts, parcels will never arrive.
