Remember some years ago, when a class of students in Tuvalu sent postcards to raise awareness for the plight of their tiny country?
Well, they’re at it again! This year’s project is called “We are One”. Emily (aka emilytao), the volunteer who is helping the children on this project, explains the concept:
"Being one of the smallest and most remote nations in the world, it’s easy to miss out Tuvalu on the map. Through postcard exchanging, we wish to make this island country more known to the world; hence the idea of “We Are One Project” was born, which aims to connect Funafuti’s (the capital island) Primary School children with postcrossers from all over the world. Students will benefit from writing postcards in English, further motivating them to become better writers… or simply to have more enthusiasm in learning English!
Once we receive postcards, students will be assigned to do studies and research on different country’s unique culture or history. They will be amazed at the fact how big the world is; bigger than they had thought, beyond the skyline of coconut trees and the sea.
Through this project, we hope to help our children be more connected with the rest of the world, and understand that we are all part of it, for better or worse, WE ARE ONE WORLD. "
How wonderful is that? :) They’re planning to send around 400 postcards, and the first ones are already on their way! If you’re lucky, you might receive or send one to them!
Oh! And if you didn’t know where Tuvalu is, or want to learn more about this Polynesian island nation, don’t forget to check out their page on Wikipedia.
PS – We know that Tuvalu is a “rare” country, but Emily and the children won’t be able to engage in direct swaps for the duration of the project. So please respect their choice, and don’t contact them requesting for swaps.

AMIT SURANA
I would also love to receive an official postcard from Tuvalu but I don't think I will be so lucky. Good luck to all involved in this project. I love the concept 'We Are One World'. That is so true! :-)
Great project and I would love to participate and receive a card too! Never received one from Tuvalu!
This project is fantastic and I am happy to be involved with it!Best wishes:)
It's a wonderful way to learn.
Hope I get a card from them, lots of succes!!!!!
What a wonderful idea!
I love it! Postcards are such a fun way to learn about our beautiful world.
What a great idea, I'll jump with excitement if I receive one!
Great project! Tuvalu's culture, history including visitors from afar, and its commitment to environmental concerns make it fascinating to study. We are one world!!!
I think Postcrossing may be using the incorrect flag for Tuvalu. It looks more like the one that they had 1996-97, with the colours a bit wrong.
Cool project!!! Wish it all the best!! :)
Great project! I hope I will receive one postcard from it. :)
What a great idea. Here's hoping you'll get lots of wonderful cards from all over the map!
Really great project!
A great project! It's fun and educational for children, and the receivers will be thrilled to get a card from Tuvalu.
Cool project. I hope, I receive a postcard soon....
Sounds like a fun project!
I was also one of the happy receivers from the 1st part of the project, good luck to everybody engaged in the 2nd part! :D

We would love to send them a card even if we are not involve in the SWAP. If they need to just receive some cards, let us know!
Great to see the project again. This is one of the special 'gifts' I got with postcrossing. Pleased to send them a postacard again!
Good luck with the project.
I just read a book about a dutch footballcoach who worked with the Tuvalu national team. Foppe de Haan - Bondscoach voor 4 weken. - 2011

Have fun with the project and who knows; maybe I sent or receive from Tuvalu this time. ;)
I hope that this a really successful project. Sounds great, and makes me wish I were back in the classroom teaching....this would be a great project for any class/school.
Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement! Though unable to do swaps, I still received several messages expressing the wish to participate in this project and to send us postcards nonetheless. If you're willing to share something about your country/culture with the students, please send it (by the end of 07/2014) to: P.0.Box 124, Funafuti, Tuvalu. We Are One Project. Thanks again for all your kindness. "May the odds be ever in your favor!" :) God Bless!
I'm curious how it is working...is it just through the normal process of having a certain number of travelling cards etc?
Oh this is great! I got a card from them the first time and was very excited about it! Hope I will get another! :)
I really hope to receive a card from Tuvalu. I will be sending you a card today. All the best with the project. God bless
What a great project!!!
I will send a card to you and hope that I'm a lucky winner and get one from you :)
Would love to receive a postcard from Tuvalu :)
And how does one have the chance to volunteer in this country? :)
Lucky you :)
I got an official card last time around, so I believe the odds of receiving a second one will be small. Maybe I'll be one of the lucky guys that got the address to send a card to Tuvalu.
Anyway, it's a great project!
That sounds so wounderful. The idea is great! It must be a big motivation for the children to enjoy all the beautiful cards.
I hope I am one of the lucky ones who receive a card from them =)
I'll send a postcard today!
I have a postcard travelling from South Africa to Tuvalu - over 28 days ago - going to be interesting to see how many days it takes to get there.
WOW! What a beautiful project!
I would love to be one of the lucky ones to receive a postcard from the kids!
Or just send it to them ...
great! Well i guess i won't be that lucky to receive a card from there but i'd like to send one (just to help the project) So where do i find the address?
Sunny, 11 posts before yours you can find the address.
What a great project! I hope the children learn a lot about other countries and other people in the world, just like I do!
A great project!
Tuvalu is one of my favorite places I want to visit, but I know I will never be able to visit this island. I've seen some reports on TV and in the internet a few years ago and fell in love with what I saw.
And I would love it to receive a postcard :-)

Neat...I have received a card from Tuvalu the first year I started postcrossing from another member of the small country. It took 100 days to reach me. Wishing you much success with the project
I heard about Tuvalu only a few days ago, a Postcrosser mentioned it. I hadn't a clue where it was so 'Googled' it in and found this tiny island, so small yet the school children so are active in this Project. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope to receive a postcard from the island. Good luck to all involved.
Wonderful looking forward to sending or receiving one
I hope I get their address or receive a postcard from them.
Wow great! Absolutely a great project. I wish I can send or receive some. All the best!

An excellent idea and thanks to the Postcrossing site for allowing us to show ourselves and discover each others!
Tuvlu is not a familiar name in my country, hope more people get to know it , and i want to have a pen-pal in Tuvalu! lovely people!
great project! :)
I would like to send them a card!!!! Hope, I'll be lucky)))
Please note that, about mid-way down this list of 71 comments, is a post from We Are One with their address.
Stamp collectors should check out the Tuvalu Philatelic Bureau website http://www.stampsoftuvalu.com/ They have terrific stamps for sale! I especially like the root vegetables, (complete with recipe), the sealife and the beetles of Tuvalu stamps.
I just learned about Tuvalu for the first time through this blog post - what a great project! Would love to help! :)
I hope to visit Tuvalu one day but until then, I'll send a little part of myself in a postcard!
What a great project!
Great project! I received the first card and will be happy to receive another one! Or send a card to Tuvalu))
What an excellent idea! I wish I could receive one!
What a fantastic way to show the World the beautiful island of Tuvalu. I'm sure that we Postcrossers will not only be honoured to receive a card, but also to post a card to Tuvalu to allow these children to see a little bit of our own country.
Good luck with the Project and I'll be sending you a card today from Scotland.
It's so great that they are able to join postcrossing again. I wish them a lot of fun!
Great project! I'll be sending a card from Zeeland (NL) today :-) - enjoy!
Great project! So much fun for kids!
Would be very nice to be part of the project… and if I'm not I like to wish good luck to everyone who is part of it :-)
What a fascinating project! I would love to receive a postcard (and send on, too). I would love to write a letter to the students and tell them about Iowa and send pictures, if they would like.Just contact me. Best Wishes & great success!
OMG this is so lovely! It would be so nice if I can get one. This is so meaningful as well. Good luck to those adorable kids!
Sadly, on the map here in postcrossing is Funafuty only water :(
This project is one of the best things here on postcrossing. I think, this should be supported! :)
What a wonderful project!!! Would love to take part in it! I'll be on top of the world if i get one from this amazing country as well ;-)
Wish all the best and good luck to all of you!
What a great project. I would love to send a card from the UK or perhaps even receive one from Tuvalu.
I've already took part in the previous Tuvalu's project. I must say I've learnt some about Geography... and I felt directly in touch with the idea of a wide world where the people got something else to experience than the mall in the corner and the TV shows from the couch (me, myself and I, you know).
It was delightful.
I'm sure they will do it again!
;-)
I hope to be one of the lucky ..................... ALL THE BEST!
nice project! hope they will randomly pick me up for their postcard... hehe... good day every postcrosser.. ^..^
Great project! I hope to send a postcard to Tuvalu soon!!
Hope the students enjoy this project
So much fun!
I think it would have been a good idea to give their address, not a question of swapping, but just sending them postcards! I'd love to send them postcards, and I understand perfectly it's not possible for them to swap with everybody. Just sending them something from our countries and cultures, for the children!
Good luck with this project! I have never heard of Tuvalu ever. I have heard about its nearest neighbors like Kiribati, Nauru, Samoa and Fiji. And according to wikipedia, Tuvalu's population "makes it the third-least populous sovereign state in the world, with only the Vatican City and Nauru having fewer inhabitants."
I would also love to receive a postcard from Tuvalu :-)
Am i late? As well, i would also like to send a postcard from my island (Tenerife in Canary islands) to your school.
I like it very much :)
I received your postcard. I love your project and I congratulate you for the great idea. congratulations.
I have just received a postcard from Jacob. Thank you, now I know Tuvalu! I hope you all learn a lot about the world. Happy postcrossing! And enjoy your project!!!
Great idea :) Ah how I would like to receive a postcard from such a beautiful country.
On the 6th may I wrote here a comment. Only a few days later my adress was written in a postcard from Tuvalu. I never thought I would get one card but I am happy
Talofa everyone! A big, big thank you to those who participated in the project. We have received many postcards from postcrossors around the world! The children are enjoying it very much. When I show them the received postcards, they simply couldn't put it down!
For those who still wishes to send a postcard to teach Tuvaluan children something about your culture/country, please send it to P.O.Box 124, Funafuti, Tuvalu before the end of July.
Also, we'd like to find two ladies who have written to us:
1. Christine from Switzland
2. Rachel from Wirral, England.
I'm giving it a shot here. Not sure if they'll see this post, but if God willing, please, please write a msg to us. Thanks!
All the best to you!
Emily
Wow! I'm so lucky to have received a postcard from Tuvalu through this project! That makes me very happy and give me a chance to know Tuvalu. Thank you so much ^_^!
Wish all the volunteers and the children well!
ALL THE BEST!
I received a postcard from Tuvalu today, thats how I learned about We Are One Project 2014. :)
I sent one to Tuvalu and it came back as "insufficient address," though it's exactly as listed on the request. I'll try again-I'm determined to get it there!
Talofu!
I have been so lucky to receive a postcard from one of the children through this project as well. So not only did I learn about the project today, but also about Tuvalu. Even though I knew it was an Island state in the South Pacific, today I have looked up more information about your country. So it's not only the children in Tuvalu learning about the world, but definitely also the world learning about Tuvalu! Mission achieved :-)
Thanks again! It's such a great initiative. I am happy to hear that the children also enjoyed it and are excited about the cards from all over the world they are receiving.
All the best!
Tofa!
