It’s todaaaaaaaaaaay! October 1st is finally here, the day in which we celebrate these little pieces of handwritten communication that bring so much joy to the world!
Maybe you can hear the smooth scribbling sound that thousands of pens make while writing on all those postcards, and feel the excitement in the air? Us too! 😍
Quite a few people started celebrating last weekend already, with many meetings taking place over the last few days, but today is THE DAY that marks the 155th anniversary of our favorite form of communication. Our postcards are laid out on our desk, stamps to one side and pens to the other, with a warm drink in front and some stamp-shaped cookies too — we’re ready to get this party started!
We hope the collective enthusiasm of postcard lovers will be contagious, and that many people will hear about World Postcard Day today! We also wish all the postboxes in the world will be filled to the brim with nice mail — it’s a good day for a walk or a ride across town, to drop postcards in all the postboxes you can reach. How many do you think you’ll be able to feed?

My friend and I did it at midnight, and it said, "Today is World Postcard Day." However, on our sheet, we see 30 Sep 2024, even though it was the 1st of October. Can this be fixed?

I'm happy World Postcard Day has arrived, but I'm disappointed in the 10 card limit. I ordered cards with the official design and there was a minimum order of 25 cards.
atlclaude my minimum card order was 50! So I have shared with fellow local postcrossing people and sent cards to friends and family. spread the love.

My life has been enriched through the communication with all sorts of different people- peoples that have spicy food, peoples that know over 3 languages, peoples that live near farming areas, and peoples from all walks of life. valentine_che, new postcrossers have a limit of 5 cards, but that limit is increased as you send and receive more cards. People with a normal limit over 10 are limited to 10 for WPD.

I received email saying it is postcard day oct 1st so I chose 9 and then noted they may not be on Oct 1st because it is not midnight here in canada? I will be mailing them in the morning…will this make a difference? Will it still be official with time difference?

I also wrote 10 postcards last night from midnight to 1:30 a.m., only to find out that all 10 were sent on September 30th. That's not right. I don't have any more cards to send. Is there anything I can do about it?

I just joined Postcrossing 3 weeks ago and it is officially 12:01 A M now. It seems that I got very lucky with my timing and I will join in World Postcard Day. I actually started early and mailed a postcard to my wife on Saturday wishing her a Happy Birthday and WPD on October 1. So far I have mailed 4 postcards around the world and have received none, but if my first postcard arrives in the mailbox tomorrow, it will really be perfect timing.

Please know that the date shown follows UTC time - but you will be able to get the badge once the card is registered even if it shows 30 Sept. The badge is given when your card is registered - as long as it's 1 Oct in your timezone, the card counts.

Fortunately, a card arrived. And I don't have any traveling cards on the road. And I was able to request a new address. My first WPD!
I have received almost no postcards in the last few weeks. I go to the mailbox every day and have often been disappointed. Perhaps today's WPD will inspire many writers and my postman will have more to do in the next few weeks! In any case, my WPD postcards are on their way today...

I met with a postcrosser friend on the 27th to get my WPD postcards from her that we ordered. We signed 162 WPD postcards!
I had spent the afternoon creating 50 WPD cards that are entirely hand stamped and inked.
Yesterday I started with some addresses drawn, today I will split my 10 slots up throughout the day.
Drew one right after midnight and 2 more since then....7 to go :)
I work today, so I will be "pistcarding" tonight after work.
Have a fun day with our hobby!!!
Just finished writing the 10 cards of today and will now bring them to the postbox! I had bought 20 official WPD cards and asked for 5 addresses yesterday and wrote 5 to swap friends in France, Italy and Belgium. I enjoyed writing and decorating them!

I'm off to mail 30 World Postcard day cards! I got to send 4 through Postcrossing and 15 to folks I had sent postcards to in the past from Postcrossing. The rest went to my friends and family. I have been writing cards for a week to be ready to mail this morning! YAY! And Happy World Postcard Day to you all!!

What a great day this is: rainy, recently retired and ready to write a lot of cards. Luckily, I already wrote about 15 cards yesterday and saved 10 addresses for today, not aware that that was the maximum number. Lucky me :-)

I am participating in my 3rd WPD!! Yay me!! I had 6 slots available this morning🌞 when I drew my numbers. Halfway way thru I received an email that I had a postcard register. Oh goody, I thought, Make that 7 cards. Alas 😥, the card was an expired one - 80 days old, thus not available. So, I put my 6 travelers in the postbox 📬 as I left🚗 the
house🏡 today. I came home later to find I had another registration!!! This time it freed up a slot so I've written up my 7th card. It will go to Germany tomorrow. 😀
Just got back from PO which closes in 5 minutes where I mailed last 6 postcrossing cards and had them hand stamped! In all since Labor Day I’ve mailed 37 postcards. I’m mighty happy and glad to be traveling the globe with my pen. Hope you’ve had a great travel day too. Happy World Postcard Day everyone.🤗

Today, I couldn't make it to the official Postcrossing Meetup for World Postcard Day. Instead, I had a fantastic meeting with the Beavers at my local Scout group. I introduced them to postcards, and they created their own, learned how to add stamps and addresses, watched a video about a letter's journey, played a game of "Guess how many stamps are in the jar," and enjoyed a round of postcard bingo!
Of course, I sent some official postcards on the Postcrossing website to finish the celebrations!

What's the reason for the 10 card limit on October 1?
Well I just missed it *sigh*
Why haven't I gotten a Badge for sending postcards on WPD? Does it take some time or what did I do wrong? :(
You receive the badge once one of the cards has been received and registered.
The limit exists to make sure the system has enough addresses to hand out on this very busy day for postcrossing.
Fortunately, a card arrived on Oct 1st from my friend in Germany. And I have 4 traveling cards on the road but seems none were registered on WPD 🥲
Arrggh! Totally forget about it! Was so busy here and completely distracted. Now I remember what I was supposed to write down on the Oct 1st space of my calendar to remind myself :( Oh well. Next year :)
