It’s the best time of the year — the time when Postcrossing postcards count for a good cause! It’s hard to believe that this year celebrates the 10th anniversary of this partnership between Postcrossing and Deutsche Post… Ten years have flown by, and in this time, many people have improved their reading and writing skills in Germany with the help of this community. Hurray!
By now, most of you know how this goes, but let’s recap once more for the new postcrossers:
That’s it! If you’re in Germany, now is the right time to stock on postcards and stamps… especially the new Postcrossing stamp! 😍 Once December starts, every postcard you send during that month (that arrives before the end of February 2023) will count towards this good cause. But that is not all, as your postcards could also help you win one of these cool prizes:
- 1 voucher worth €100, to use in Deutsche Post Online Shop
- 5 vouchers worth €50 each, to use in Deutsche Post Online Shop
The more postcards you send, the more you’ll be helping, and the higher are your chances of winning a voucher to spend on Deutsche Post’s shop. Paulo will run his random number generator in March 2023, and we’ll reveal the total amount of postcards sent (and money raised to Stiftung Lesen) on a new blog post. Last edition, €13,729.90 were raised for this good cause, which was just brilliant!
Many of us are not in Germany though, and I know what you’re thinking… how can WE help? It’s easy — we just need to register the postcards we receive extra promptly! In the next few weeks, a lot postcards from Germany are going to be making their way to our mailboxes and the sooner we register them, the sooner it will be possible for that sender to mail another postcard. :)
Stiftung Lesen is a German non-profit organization, working to increase literacy in the population, especially among children and adolescents. Their activities include reading clubs, media literacy projects and initiatives to promote the learning of German language by refugee families in the country. Many of us go through life taking these basic skills for granted, but for those who struggle with them, a small improvement in this area can be life-changing. The work Stiftung Lesen does is super important, and we’re glad for this chance to support them.
We hope you will all join in on the 10th anniversary edition of the “Cards for Literacy” campaign, and are as excited as we are to help others with our postcards!
P.S. – Postcrossing respects your personal information and will not share it with any company without your explicit permission. The full details of this campaign can be read here (German only).

Lovely!
Can't wait to start
What a lovely campaign. A dreadful shame our Royal Mail isn't this good!
Yes, finally! I waited for this announcement.
We must keep on supporting Royal Mail. I'll try to send more postcards. Love our Posties!
Wow. It's a great campaign. 🖤❤💛
It's a great campaign.Wish I could get a postcard from Germany.
Oh my God...
Yesterday I received a card from Germany with the new Postcrossing stamp! Thank you Martina!
i am already looking forward to writing as many postcards as possible in december
exchange with me,everybody, lets do it now
Now that is what the Christmas spirit is all about. Well done Deutsche Post.
I have 43 free slots... hopefully at one point of december they are all travelling ... but there is still the normal life to live :-). Last year I wrote 100 postcards in december and 97 were registered... Im already curious to know how many I will write this time (maybe less, but every single postcard counts!)
What a great idea!
A big shout out to the folks at DP and Stiftung Lesen!
Great!
This year I might be able to send a few cards from Germany too - if everything goes as planned.
So wonderful news!!!
Great project. I look forward to this each year and am eagerly waiting to register a lot of German postcards over the coming months.
I haven't send cards in November, so I have 68 free slots. December can come.
I wish that every country did this.
Go,go Germany!
40 free slots so far - I hope to have more free when it starts. I can hardly wait to start writing.
I wish the US Post would have a similar campaign option
Ich freue mich 👍👍🎄🎄
Ooh, I'm looking forward to receiving cards from German Postcrossers! Of course, I always enjoy cards from Germany. But even more this month, as it helps to support this wonderful cause!
Wonderful! I've been getting quite a few from Germany and now will look forward to them even more!
What a great idea ! They should share that to other European post offices !!!
I promise ! I will check my mailbox daily and register immediately !
Thank you to all German post crossers participating !
What a great program! You go German post office!
nearly all my slots are open, just waiting for the month to start!
Everything ready to write postcards :-)
Wonderful.
Feel free to send me your spare/extra Berlin Wall postcards. Hehe
Saved all my 46 slots for the good cause. Can't wait so start
very good!:)
GREAT!
I was hoping this would start again this year - THANK YOU Deutsche Post!
I've been saving slots since last week and hope to top the amount of 43 sent postcards in december 2021.
So we need the support of ALL postcrossers to register postcards from Germany right away to get a new address.
Fantastic
This is really great!
Soon! ✍️

O my. Actually, I didn't plan to send postcards in December bc of all the Christmas Post during that time but if it's for a good cause... Luckily, some spots freed up in the last few days so I'm ready to send out some cards. :D
I'm ready, 93 of my 100 slots are open. I didn't send any postcards in November. It's really hard, one whole month without writing postcards (I can imagine it's like a drug user getting no drugs). But then on December 1st, midnight, I will spend the whole night getting addresses and writing postcards. Paulo, I hope you are ready as well for us crazy German postcrossers drawing addresses at midnight, lol.
This is a wonderful action 🫶🏻 I take part and will send many postcards as possible 🌟🥰
A good thing that is. Especially since in this digitized world, reading has somehow gone out of fashion.
It would certainly also be helpful to remove the limit for postcards to be sent for German Postcrossers, in the month of December. Some would certainly like to send more cards than their limit allows.
I was hoping it would happen again, which is why I saved some slots over the past few weeks! ☺️
I have 64 free slots for december!! I take part of this beatiful program :-)
Gute Leistung Deutsche Post!
49 free slots already. 1 gonna expire today. But I hope the other 50 gonna be registered today/tomorrow. I am not sure if I can write them all within the first night but I gonna try.
Prepare the cards with surprise already. Tomorrow I will send my 100. card. Of course will give the lucky postcrosser some surprises. Can not wait for the time.
There are enough cards and stamps, now only December has to come :-))
Ready to start, 45 free slots are waiting... 😊 I'm happy that German Post continues this great project together with Postcrossing in 2023. Let's set a new record! 🏆
Let´s go... and thank you all for taking part
OK people of Germany, pick me, pick me.
Will be the board there again this year?
I want to see how many postcards I sended.
What fun stamps, what a great idea, I would love to receive a postcard with one 😊
I think that's wonderful, I'll take part!
Great news !
This is awesome! Since I just started recently I can't have that many cards traveling unfortunately but I'll keep sending new once as soon as a card arrives to get as many out as possible! <3
Thank you, Postcrossing and Deutsche Post for this awesome collaboration!
It's great that postcrossers are involved in such a good cause. In Belarus, when buying postcards, some sellers donate some amount to charity.
Tja, ich wurde leider ausgebremst. Von den 17 Postkarten die von mir unterwegs sind, gehen 9 nach Russland und da kann es dauern bis die ankommen und ich wieder einen freien Slot habe.
Wow! Very exciting news! I need one mint stamp for my collection.
I have russian PC stamp issue for swap. Someone, write me, please! =)
It was wonderful - unfortunately, as I have just recently joined postcrossing, I could only send a handful cards... (:() but I understood the this will be a yearly event, so next time I'll be prepared and save slots! The money we received for our wedding we gave to the Stiftung Lesen, too...
