Have you ever thanked your mail carrier for bringing you all those postcards to your doorstep, day after day, rain or shine? Now is your opportunity: February 4th is Thank a Mailman Day! :)
Leave your mail carrier a note, a treat, or just open the door and say thank you if you’re around… I’m sure they’ll appreciate the gesture!
And if you’re planning to do something special, do share — we’d love to hear about it!

I do nothing but write "Thanks for your hard work, Mr.Postman" in almost every card I send until now.
We normally leave a little (colourful and delicious) present for our postlady before Christmas... that was tradition also in my home family and I enjoy it a lot, too!!
Thanks for letting us know!
I know Postmen and Postwomen everywhere will appreciate a thank you. Mine certainly does.
Thank you for the information. I hope, I see my postwoman....
I'll leave a Thanks note on my letterbox :)
I always happy when there is Postman with orange motorbike, jaket, and helmet come to my house and give postcard..Thanks Mr. Postman
I hope I'll be seeing many friendly people tomorrow when I deliver the mail♥
I'm going to put a thanks note on my letterbox so every mailman can read it!
My postman gets every year a christmas present. It's a tradition in my family, too.
I'm going to visit the mailroom and say thank you to our great mailman-Maron
I am a post person myself...... when I used to deliver letters ,I always appreciated that thank you with a smile or even a sweet for energy to keep you going........big thanks to my post girl aswell....
My postman told me I needed a stamp on HIS thank you card from me.... my previous one thought my goodie bag was poisoned. The one before wrote me back and included a sheet of stamps for me on top of putting a stamp on his card to me... I guess I need to go BIG this year. If anything, these people are DEDICATED to their job and it's regulations.
We have the best post person ever! I always leave a plate of home made Christmas cookies for her. And through the year, I see her often and we enjoy our little times of chatting. Go Sandy!!
When I am on holiday and at home I try to meet him and I tip him. I am always very happy to see him, and he probably likes to see me too. ;-)
Already done. I like the day :)
My parents give their postman alwayson christmas some money.
I have just made a bag of sweets and wrote a thank you-poem and hung it on my mailbox. I hope he likes it :)
Thanks so much for mailman's hard work,it is probably why everyone in postcrossing can keep on this activity.
Whenever, that I come across a postal carrier during my day or go inside a post office, I do enjoy letting them know that our postal system is great and that our postal workers are very appreciated. So now, at this moment, I would like to tell all worldwide Postal folks that I thank them!
What a lovely day to be a mailman or -woman!
But reading all this makes me a little sad because we live in an appartment building and I've never seen our postman or postwoman.
I like the idea commented by Holeyness of writing a "Thank You" to our wonderful Postcrossing 'enablers' on our cards; I'll remember to do that from now on. (^-^)
I am a postwoman myself and I like it when people appreciate my work and when I get some coffee or other drinks or sweets. Also thanks to my colleague for delivering my postcards!
Thank you for the information, I haven't heard about it before. - I only see at Saturdays the postman or postwoman, there are a few different persons at this tour. When we thought at Christmas time about a little present for the postman then there was another postman at this tour. But we say thank you to the mail deliverer every time when they bring the parcels to our office. Some of them have to deliver such heavy parcels...
Thank you for the information. I wasn't aware of. I read the comments and I was so surprise to discover a bunch of varieties for the mail. It could be a good idea to write where you're from. By the way, I live in an apartment in Canada and I don't meet my mail man. As suggested, I'll write a thank you on my mail box in the hall of my building.
Because of different worktimes I don't see our Mailman very often. But today I've got the chance: He was very surprised about my congratulation and the little chocolate box I gave him... + he was very happy because he likes to have sweets on a cold day like today. In the past he had often made comments about the big number of postcards. Because he knows that we have 3 daughters, he thought the postcards are for them.
I met my Postman today and said thank you. He knows my house well at this stage and leaves my mail inside the porch if the porch door is open. This stops the cards being damaged by being pushed through the letterbox.
Yesterday...I thanked a very nice PostLady that her route delivers mail to my wife's office, and she appreciated the message and wanted to learn more about our postcrossing group. She planned to join last night after work. Later in the day I was inside the Blaine, WA USA post office and thanked the postal clerk's and they enjoyed the comments.
Thank you for the information.I'll write a thank you card on my letter box tonight.
Thanx for sharing the info. I didn't see a postwoman in my country before. However, when it is the Chinese New Year, my mother would give our postman some Mandarin oranges for their hardwork of the year and the postman is happy to receive them too! :)
I didn't knew this, I think our postman less than me.. hehe... but we give him a tip twice a year and always have fun with him, as he enjoy our cards, too!!
I send 2 cards on 20/12/2014 to Germany and the Netherlands, specially with an ode to the postman this time of the year!!! The cards (with postman on bicycle in the snow) aren't registrated yet, I hope the postman are happy with the card! Thank you for your work, I respect you!!!
i always write 'thank you postman' on my mail! :)
My postwoman is a nice and friendly young lady.If I don't forget it I give her a little candle with christmas
When I bake I put a few cookies for my postman on my mailbox. And at Christmas he get a small gift with some money from me.
