The writing prompts invite postcrossers to write about a different topic on their postcards’ messages every month. These are just suggestions though — if you already know what you want to write about, or the recipient gives you some pointers, that’s great too!
August was my birthday month, and my wedding anniversary also falls in August, so I had a well-fed month! For my birthday, my family always choose the same place to celebrate, so I was wondering about everyone else… which leads in to this prompt.
Both me and my sister always celebrate our birthdays with food from a Cantonese restaurant in Wakefield, called (perhaps a little non-originally) Pagoda. Usually when we go in person we get a banquet meal for the group, because (with a couple of substitutions) it contains all our favourites: chicken and sweetcorn soup, sesame prawn toast and crispy wontons for appetizers, crispy duck with pancakes… and that’s all before we get to the main course, where we usually get a few options. Personally, I gravitate toward lemon or orange chicken, along with a little bit of sweet and sour pork—though I do like stealing the onions from everyone else’s choices, too.
And finally we do like to wrap up with dessert, even if it doesn’t really match the meal: my sister likes a slice of lemon meringue pie, while I usually either plump for the same or go for a slice of chocolate fudge cake. After that, we just about need to be rolled out of our seats and off to the car to get home… and I don’t think any of us eat much the next day. There’s a reason it’s a special treat!
Are you feeling hungry yet? I think I am… Tell us about your favourites here, or consider writing about them on your postcards this month if you’re stumped for what to say!

I love Thai food, and my favorite local Thai restaurant where I live is called Thai Chef. :)
I love to go to the Chinese restaurant, especially the buffet, or order out.
I love Indian food most 😃. We have a great restaurant in my hometown. 👍🏽
Vietnamese!
I love Thai food, especially 'Lab Gai', a spicy chicken salad. My favorite restaurant unfortunaly has closed down. It was located in the neighbouring town, run by a Thai chef. 👩🍳🥘🍲🍜 😋It was so delicious....I miss it.
My local Village pub has simply wonderful food. My first visit I made the mistake of ordering large Pie, it was out of this world, rich thick gravy huge puff pastry dome and great veggies. It took 3 days to recover, now I order small pie !! When I ordered cheeseboard for dessert enough arrived I thought for the 6 in the party but no it was all for meeeee. I carried what I couldn't munch home.
When in London it's always Brick Lane for a curry, massive numbers of restaurants serving real curries, I adore Indian and Bangladeshi food, everything about it and don't care if I can't move afterwards, hotter the better ! 🤣
I was fortunate to visit Kyoto Japan this summer. I'll always remember the friendly service and delicious soba and sushi at a small lunch restaurant named Itsutsu.
Japanese food and especially restaurant Yama in Rotterdam is my absolute favorite!! Visiting Japan is still on my bucketlist,
Tapas! I love it and it is so fun to do together.
I love Chinese food, but my favorite lunch restaurant serves crab salad sandwiches and vanilla malts. Yum.
Mein Lieblingsrestaurant ist Golden Palast hier im Ort. Das Buffet ist lecker
I love chinese food and I treat myself once in a while, but I am diabetic. Rice, mainly, isn't good on my levels.
We have a local restaurant called Gators that I like to eat at. There are 2 dishes i like to get and are both good on my diabetic levels. I like sesame chicken salad with honey mustard dressing and a little cup applesauce. Sometimes - especially for supper - I get ham steak with salad, steamed broccoli + roll.
I love knowing and trying food from around the world, that says a lot about cultures, but Arab and Mexican cuisine has my heart completely...
I live in the US and while take out is hugely popular here, I enjoy the experiences of dining in.
My favorite cuisine is Indian, Thai, Japanese, seafood, and south of the border. (South western).
I love a good cafe for lattes, coffee, tea and a pastry as well.
Oh I forgot, I love Greek and middle eastern food as well. Anything Mediterranean.
I love the food from a fancy local restaurant called " Marlena". It's an amazing experience.
I still love pickeled herring and dutch pancakes. Hard to find here in Canada!
Oh ya! I love writing about restaurants /hotel stays and my homemade kitchenery. I like - - in sweet food - - raspberry semolina pudding, apple strudel (dear fellow postcrossers, google apple strudel, there's lots of variations), tartufo. Tartufo is an Italian dessert which has dark cocoa powder and choco ice. Any good cafeteria and vintage restaurants welcomed!
I live in the Czech Republic, I like our Czech cuisine, I don't even include Thai cuisine, my favorite is noodles, from our kitchen potato salad with steak, potato dumplings, chicken
My favorite food is Italian. My friends and I have a favorite Italian we go to that has the best food. We go out to lunch every Saturday and it's hard to not go there every week. I also could eat pizza every day. :-)
The restaurant I often go to recently is Lanzhou Beef Noodle Shop.
Inside the favorite food is liangpi. It is the taste of my hometown.
It seems that the foods you eat as a child become the foods you like to eat when you grow up.
Besides, I like fish very much. Grilled fish, steamed fish, fried fish, hot pot fish, poached fish and so on。
In addition, I am very happy to see that many people like Chinese food. I also like to cook for myself. You know, Chinese food is so rich and varied, with eight different cuisines.
I also really like to taste the food of different countries and regions. It always surprises me.
I like trying foods from different places but I have a particular fondness for Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indian, Thai, and a number of others from that part of the world! With that I mind, I don't have one specific restaurant that's a favorite.
I love to eat Local foods, like, Mutton Karhai. It is so delicious.
I love Greek food as well. Anything Mediterranean...lamb , fish dish
I love Thai, Indian and Chinese food but I live in a tiny village where there are only 2 restaurants. But I also like pancakes and there is a lovely place in Ommen! I always eat there on my birthday, the couple who are the owners are great!
Vietnamese food is the best ethnic food I know! There is a really good Vietnamese restaurant in my nearby town, Vaasa.
Spaghetti and pasta sauce (Italian) is also really good!
I am a foodie.
We cook a lot at home to be more specific my husband cooks in the family!
Often we like to go out in the city to eat, but I strongly recommend if you want to come to Brasov - Romania, to eat at "Beraria Pofta Sau Foame" (Strada Politehnicii 1, Brasov 500024 Romania) and try the dish "Mititei aka Littleshi"
Enjoy!
Iraqi Food, Persian, Thai & Mexican 👍👍👍
I love hearty Swiss cuisine! E.g.:
Rösti with fried egg!
Sausage-cheese salad!

chouxfleur
I like some international foods but Portuguese continues to be my favorite.
Traditional restaurants are always my choice.
I like German food very much, I have often been to Hanauer Bub. 😊
In Almaty I am eating in my nearby bakery, also I like Italian good, so Del Papa in Almaty is one of my favourite places there.
I like Italian food very much. My favourite Restaurant is "Pano Winehouse" in Beyoğlu, İstanbul which is actually a very old mansion restored into an elegant Winehouse. There I like to order cheese plate with beet pickles and Spaghetti Napoliten as well as Syriac (a Christian ethnic group in Anatolia) local red wine.
Pesca in Rotterdam a great fish restaurant.
You will have a lovely evening where you can choose your menu in a theater experience. Really delicious food!
I love Greek food and desserts: Moussaka, Souvlaki, Saganaki and Baklava. I can put Tzatziki on about anything. I love it on sandwiches especially. Not too bad on a pizza either.
I enjoy rich, creamy soups such as potato soup, cheeseburger soup, broccoli-cheese soup, etc. I enjoy making them homemade, but we have a great little sandwich shop downtown that you can get 1/2 a sandwich and bowl of soup. Absolutely delicious!
Authentic japanese food, made from a real japanese cook is something good. Because the topic is totally different from european food. European and especially German food has to fill and give energy (that's because of the wars Germany historically started)... The Japanese way of doing food isn't to fill you, it is to be healthy and keep you pleased until your next meal. So they usually don't look at how filling it'll be, but how near to the optimal nutrition value a meal is.
And by that I don't mean the noodle to go box from the train stations, because that's far away from being optimal...
A well crafted japanese meal is something special...
Hello,we are students from Taiwan.

There are also many kinds of soups such as Korean Kimchi Hot Pot.It’s hot but addictive. Also, curry Hot Pot.It’s a very special experience for hotpot. And,milk Hot Pot which is for someone who can’t eat spicy food. and so on.
We chose this restaurant because there is very delicious ice cream that has unlimited supply ,no service charge, and hot pot keeps our body warm.
