Many Postcrossers and postcard lovers from all over the world have been devout fans of Diddl the Mouse for quite some time now. You may be wondering who Diddl is and how he was created… well, fear not – we have all of the answers right here for you!
Diddl the Mouse was created by German artist Thomas Goletz in 1990. Goletz had always loved to draw and create new characters and after studying as a graphic artist, he was doodling one day when he came up with Diddl. Of course, the first Diddl was a little different than the mouse that we all know and love today. The very first Diddl was a larger kangaroo with no name. He had on Diddl the Mouse’s famous overalls, but other than that, he was pretty different.
After playing around with this eccentric kangaroo character, Goletz transformed him into a jumping mouse, who was smaller and could fit inside of coffee cups and pieces of cheese. Goletz gave him the name Diddl, because he wanted something cute and short, and he liked the goofy sound that Diddl makes as it rolls of your tongue. Diddl is defined by his kooky sense of humor, fun-loving nature and jumping behavior. He has very large ears and large pink-soled feat.
Goletz began working with stationery and toy manufacturer Depesche to mass produce cards, calendars and many other things, all featuring Diddl. Goletz also created friends and relatives for the mouse, including his girlfriend Diddlina. Today, Diddl and his friends are some of the most popular cartoon characters in Austria, Germany or Switzerland. In the Netherlands, Diddl’s many adventures are featured in a monthly publication called “Diddl’s Kaasblad”.

When I was younger, I owned so many Diddl plushies.. Aw, Diddl is still cute :D
Not only the Netherlands have this publication...in Germany it's called "Käseblatt".
As a mother of two daughters, we have ALL sorts of Diddl products around the house. Stuffed animals from 3" to 3 FEET tall, stationary, stickers, pencils, books and games...you name it LOL...and of course, a collection of Diddl Postcards, too!
Oh God, yes! When I was a little bit younger (when I was a child) I was so addicted to all that had to do something with Diddle. I still have some products of Diddl at home which I cannot make any use of anymore...I will have to find someone who wants to have them...anyone? :) I have stationery and plushies... XD
I have some lovely 3D postcards of this Diddle mouse and always when I ask for an address to send my card to,I hope someone has this Diddle mouse on the list, it didn't happen yet.

Lot's of people seem to love Diddle cards. I have a really good friend who is really mad about them. Unfortunately it is really hard to get any Diddle postcards or other stuff in shops these days. At least where I live. I think it's really sad, as it is really cute.

I love mice and I LOVE Diddl mice! I have 3 plushies, one of them is right from my friend from Austria. I have Diddl-cups, too and other Diddl things.

I've got so many pieces of paper with Diddl on it. We used to collect these as kids here in holland:)

Nice to see a Diddl article here...I have a box of Diddl stuff collecting dust at the moment...but I am trading some of it to a nice girl for some Olympics souvenirs! :)
Oh...but I want to add that I still think Diddl is ultra cute and I wish he were more popular here in the USA!
I love Doddl, but I haven't come across much in Australia. I would love some stationary to write letter. If anyone can help with an web site I can buy from that would be fantastic.
