If you’ve been paying attention to postal news (or our Twitter feed), you’ve probably heard of the recently uncovered case of a Philadelphia’s postal hoarder. Over the years, this postman managed to collect over 20 000 pieces of mail in his garage, including “love letters, checks and gift cards, as well as hundreds of packages” that are now being delivered, some with a delay of over 10 years!
To this evil postal worker, we’d like to dedicate a very appropriate song by the Presidents of the United States of America, titled “Some Postman”:

I was shocked when I heard about this! You don't expect that when your mail hasn't come its in some carrier's garage. I live in Philly and now I have to wonder where all my missing mail has gone over the years!
hmm maybe they have such a post man in russia and china too because most of my postcards sent to both of the countries never seem to arrive or have a huge delay! :-)
Brilliant video - I hope all those love letters get returned - especially if they are on postcards!!!
I am not shocked at all, this is about the 20th time I have rad or heard about someone finally being discovered to be incompetant. Over the decades people have worked in letter carrier positions and from tiem to time illiterate persons were hired and not detected, as they would "memorize" rather than read. problems were covered up, or ignored. this is also what happens when services are not regulated. Hopefully, some good news will come out of all this.
This does not surprise me at all - only that it got uncovered! An incredible lot of mail from Austria to the USA gets lost. Not only my official cards, but my letters and parcels as well, so clearly someone along that route "collects"!
I activated the new feature yesterday, where one can send more cards to one country (in the hope for many addresses from Finland!!!) and to my absolute horror I immediately got 2 more addresses in the USA to the one expiring card I already have.
And I am not the only Austrian postcrosser with that problem (my cards often only get registered due to the kindness of the receivers in the USA, that register them anyway, even though they have not arrived!), you only need to look at those profiles, where people note their expired cards.
@Robin67: You are soooo right! I have to resend so many round robin cards to the US, as they tend to get lost! I'm wondering - is it the Post or the USPS or somewhere in between???
One of the best songs on their 'Love Everybody' album!! And a sad story, but they tell it in a funny way. Great!
I think the song is pretty funny! :)
I have really had enough now: Now I have/had 5 new cards to the USA expiring (2 were registered out of goodwill though and I have resent one and am going to resend the other one) and 2 exchange cards did not arrive.
I wish there was a function where one could DISABLE one country one does not like to send to. I definitely would use THAT function! Right now I might just as well throw my money away and save myself the time and cards as well. Our overseas postage is €1,40!
