Have you been in a Postcrossing meetup before? How about an International Postcrossing meetup? If not, here’s your chance!
Like all Postcrossing meetups, this one is also organized by the users themselves and it’s been in the works for quite some time. Now that the details are pretty much decided, it’s time to spread the word. This International Postcrossing meetup is going to be in Helsinki (Finland) in the 28th, 29th and 30th of August.
If you are interested, here’s a summary of what’s currently planned:
- Friday, 28th August:
- A small pre-meeting in the afternoon for chat and coffee in a cafeteria.
- Saturday, 29th August – the official meeting day

The official meeting day starts at 10am with a guided tour around city center and a trip to the Suomenlinna Island, an UNESCO World Heritage place. On the Island it’s possible to do a small picnic or have a cup of coffee. Of course, the city tour will have plenty of stops in many postcard shops!
Later in the day everyone can enjoy a meal together in a restaurant followed by plenty of time to write some more postcards. - Sunday, 30th August
- A visit to the biggest flea market in Helsinki, Valtterin Kirpputori, and continue to the amusement park Linnanmäki which has an unique atmosphere. The last stop on Sunday will be the Olympic Stadium Tower in Helsinki.
Many users are already arranging to go, some from abroad with plans to visit the country for the first time!

I was on the meeting in Helsinki last September and it was LOVELY! I wish I could go again but I can't this time. :(
We had a meeting here in Portugal last May. It was an amazing day, we´re already organizing another to celebrate the Postcrossing anniversary ;)

Its gr8 to hear abt the Postcrossing International Meetup.
I wish such meetup can be held in INDIA (MUMBAI)... has this can give a reason to the Postcrosser to visit INDIA and see the culture and experience something different.
I never been in Helsinkie before!
So it will be nice if I go there.
First I have to ask my boss of I can take 4 days off!
Maybe if more dutch people want to I cant order a tourincar!
I just calculated that a retour to Finland cost: € 40,--

I think that meetups are only for reliable forum members, not for everyone here.
I disagree with hilja. In my opinion meetups are for active postcrossers, no matter whether you are also active on the forum or not. :) If you are coming to the Helsinki meeting, please, let the organizers know on which day(s) you'll be there. It makes it easier for them to plan the meeting and table reservations at restaurants etc. when they know in advance how many is going to attend the meeting.

A Postcrossing member meetup in Helsinki? Makes perfect sense! I mean, after all, I am very and positive sure that among all countries, Finland has the highest percentage of people who are members of this Postcrossing site!:-)
