Ahoj, everyone! After Russia and Slovenia earlier this year, Czech Republic is about to enter the exclusive club of countries with their own Postcrossing-themed stamps!

The Philatelic department at Czech Post has some very enthusiastic fans of the project, who successfully pushed for the stamp to become a reality. The stamp design was commissioned to graphical designer and illustrator Maria Nogueira, who imagined a playful way to translate the idea of Postcrossing into the tiny format.

The design went through several different stages, until it concentrated on the essence of Postcrossing: a never-ending flow of postcards, from hand-in-hand, connecting different people all around the world! :)

The new stamp will be launched in early September at the yearly Sběratel/Collector’s fair. We look forward to it, and will share more details about the launch event closer to the date!

Hurray! The new Slovenian Postcrossing stamp is out and about, making its way across the world to many mailboxes!

The stamp was presented to the public on Thursday in Trbovlje, during the bi-yearly stamp exhibition FIMERA/FIRAMLA, where Iztok gave the attendants a short presentation about Postcrossing.

The stamp was officially launched on Friday, at a meetup that took place at the main post office in Maribor. Quite a few postcrossers came from all around the country to attend the meeting, and send postcards with the shiny new stamp and first day cancellation mark.

We were able to join the event via Skype and say hi to everyone!

Meanwhile, on the other side of the country, Anita (aka anity) bought some sheets of them in her post office near Kranj, where she made everyone wait until the clerk at the counter found them… She says it was worth it though, because they’re gorgeous! :)

Brilliant! Stay tuned for more exciting stamp news later this year…

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re proud to introduce the latest Postcrossing-themed stamp, from our beloved Slovenia!

The country might be just shy of one thousand members, but they’re a fiercely active bunch, with over 100,000 sent postcards so far! It’s their passion for traditional mail (and persistent requests!) that drew Slovenia’s Post attention, and paved the way to their shiny new stamp:

Isn’t it perfect for a summer of postcard-writing? :)

The stamp will be launched on May 29th and we’d like to invite everyone in the area to attend a small celebratory Postcrossing meetup in Maribor’s main post office. It’ll be an informal gathering of postcrossers so that the community can come together, celebrate their hobby… and of course, send postcards with the lovely new stamp and first day cancellation mark! :) You can find more details about this event on the respective forum thread.

Being a special commemorative stamp, it will only be available for one year, but we hope to see it on many postcards in the coming months!

It’s out! We’re happy to confirm that the Russian Postcrossing-themed stamp is now a reality!

Launching ceremonies were held in different cities throughout Russia, and groups of postcrossers came together to send their postcards with the special first day cancellation mark. Olga (aka Kelpie) attended a couple of these, and sent us some photos from the ceremony in Tomsk, where local postcrosser Anna (aka december_anne) did the honors and stamped the first postcard!

Despite the freezing –20°C, there were so many people in attendance that the post office ran out of stamps in one hour! :) Can’t blame the postcrossers though — it’s a really cute stamp, and we can’t wait to see one in real life!

Keep an eye on your mailbox… your next postcard from Russia might feature this special stamp!

Good news, everyone! We’re happy to announce that Russia, the country with the largest number of Postcrossing members, is releasing a themed stamp to commemorate the project on January 27th!

The 23 ruble stamp was designed by O. Shushlebina, measures 37×37 mm and comes in sheets of 9 stamps. Here’s what it will look like:

I <3 Postcrossing!

Quite nice, isn’t it? I think you can guess what it says, even if you don’t know much Russian! :)

To celebrate the occasion, three postcrossers in Novosibirsk, Tomsk and Moscow decided to hold a lottery to offer 60 lucky members the chance to receive a postcard with this stamp and the first day cancellation mark! If you’d like to participate on this giveaway, just leave a comment below saying you’d like to receive one. We’ll draw 60 names by the end of the week, and send your addresses to the members who are going to write you a postcard.

You might find a surprise postcard on your mailbox in a few weeks! :)
