Remember around this time last year, we asked you to send us a photo of you mailing your postcards, and then did a neat little video?

Well, we loved it so much we want to do it again this year! We love seeing your smiley faces!

So, for Postcrossing’s sixth birthday, we would like you to send us a photo of yourself, holding 6 postcards, like Paulo is doing below:

Mail it to birthday@postcrossing.com until July 13th. After that we’ll mix them all together and make a neat slideshow with all your smiles and postcards! :)

And of course there will be prizes! We’ll do a lottery with one kit of the World’s smallest post service and two sets of Playmobil Little Mail Carriers. Awesome, right? Go go go!

So, we’ve just spent a few hours putting all of your submitted photos for the birthday contest together in a little video and we have to confess that we are currently feeling a bit teary-eyed… The two-hundred and seventy smiles that we have received from all over the world that have swept us off our feet.

On 14th July 2005, the Postcrossing project started its first steps in spreading smiles through postcards. It was a small project done for the love of sending and receiving postcards from all over the world, and the hope was that there would be more people sharing the same love and interest for snail mail.

Fast forward 5 years and this same project is now responsible for over 4.5 million postcards connecting about 200 countries. It binds together people from different cultures of all ages and genders, with different political and even religious beliefs. Few other hobbies can claim to have achieved the same results, and we are quite proud of this!

Throughout these years, Postcrossing has gone through several milestones, thanks to the work of a team of volunteers as well as the precious support of its members who helped it reach what it is now.

Postcrossing is sending out a bold message to the world today: postcards are not something from the past. In fact, we feel like we are starting a postcard revolution and proving that no technology will ever replace the intimacy of a handwritten postcard. :)

So, use your imagination and submit a comment with a funny/quirky caption for one (or all) of these cards. Enter as many as you like! We’ll gather them all in the end of the month and select the best one for each.

When the Postcrossing project was launched 4 years ago, no one would guess that it could ever reach one million postcards. But it did, and, we have just reached 3 times that! What a milestone! Three million postcards! Three million connections! Three million smiles! We couldn’t be prouder of being part of this project.

And, this couldn’t be reached without every single member of Postcrossing, so a big thank you to you all for making it happen!

But, we know many of you are anxiously waiting to know who were the lucky members that exchanged this special postcard. So without further delays:

The postcard 3 million travelled from arjakos in Finland, to klemko in Slovenia! Congratulations to both for being part of such an important milestone in Postcrossing!

And, finally, congratulations Sara-Gandalf (from Slovenia!) – you are the lucky winner of our contest by being the first to guess correctly the countries involved on this unique postcard.

The winner of the contest, the sender and receiver of the postcard 3 million will receive aerogrammes packs kindly offered by the folks behind Int’l Girl Aerogrammes.
