HURRAAAAAAAAAY!!! We’ve been waiting a looooong time to share this news: the United States Postal Service is issuing some shiny new Postcrossing stamps! Woohoo!
It’s been a long road to get here: many of you have written to the USPS Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee over the years to ask for a Postcrossing stamp, and we’ve also been working with USPS behind the scenes for quite a while to make this happen. It’s finally happening, and what a huge honor it is for the community. A proper celebration of the joy, generosity, and curiosity that postcrossers put into the world every day.
Anyway, let’s talk about the stamps themselves… because: TRIANGLES! 😍
The new Postcrossing stamps are triangular, which is a pretty rare format for USPS. And yes — that means you can place one right on the corner of a postcard for an especially cool look. Since there are four different stamps to choose from, you won’t always be sending (or receiving) the same ones. These are global forever stamps, which means they are the international postcard (or letter) rate, and you need one single stamp to send a postcard abroad.
Visually, they’re a lot of fun: bold colors and playful scenes with lots of tiny details. They were designed by Antonio Alcalá and illustrated by Jackson Gibbs, and the result is energetic, bright, and unmistakably Postcrossing.
The launch day is May 26, 2026, and there will be a commemorative ceremony at the the Boston 2026 World Expo — and everyone’s invited! Even better: there will be Postcrossing meetups every day of the show (which is free!), so bring postcards, say hi, and let’s celebrate together. No worries if you can’t make it to Boston — like any other USPS stamps, these will be available online and at post offices around the country.
We’ll share more details (including meetup info and other products that will be available along with the stamps) as we get closer to the date. But for now, we’re just going to sit here grinning at these gorgeous triangles for a while.

So exciting! I am really surprised that this is happening! Perfect time to release it as the World Expo. These will be fun to send and a nice change from the round forever international stamps that have been issued for the past few years.

I wrote to the USPS last fall and got an answer that they were working on it but were very non-committal. I'm so happy to see this and can't wait to start sending them to my Postcrossing friends everywhere!
This has been a long time coming! Many letters, postcards have been sent to get to this point and I appreciate that Postcrossing has been working behind the scenes to make this a reality! Finally, some good news for American snail mail lovers. Not sure this is enough to keep USPS solvent but we will keep trying!

How great that the U.S. is finally doing this! We'll still need multiple stamps if we want to use them for global, which make up the majority of the postcards we send, but we'll be able to use two of these fun stamps as part of that.

Woo-hooo!!! This is so exciting! I will be buying several sheets. Here's a tip for my U.S. friends: Order these online at usps.com. Use the "Buy Stamps" under the "Quick Tools" tab at the top of the page. I work for the USPS, and I learned long ago how quickly stamps sell out at post offices. Some smaller post offices don't even get some releases. Start checking about 30 days prior to the release date for pre-sale ordering. :-) And if you find a stamp design that you love, buy a lot of them, because once they're gone, they're gone.

Just a note to all fellow US Postcrossers: You will be able to pre-order these stamps on the USPS website (https://store.usps.com/store/home) as soon they are on the website, which is normally a few weeks prior to release. They will not ship, however, until the day of issue.

I'm so jazzed! I only just picked up some triangular stamps at a stamp show last weekend (32c Pacific from 1997). Since I have personally pestered the USPS 2 or 3 times for this, I couldn't be happier. I'll be checking the US Postal Service website regularly now for these - can't wait to see them!

I just received a postcard two days ago that had a postcrossing stamp on it. I wrote, "I hope some day I'll be able to send a postcard from the US with a postcrossing stamp." May 26th it is!!
Are they forever stamps? I mean, yeah!!, but... stupid too. For international do we need two, plus an extra ounce one? If they were designed to be in the corner, they are just going to make addi g more.... awkward. Excited but disappointed

I’ve never preordered stamps before, but I will for these… so excited! Our post offices rarely order Global stamps until they run out of their previous ones, in this case the compasses. So not going wait for them to have them on hand. I wonder how many they’ll have per sheet.

How can we get some?
If Postcrossers from other countries that want the new stamp on the card they will be getting, maybe they should put a note in their profile? That way, senders from the US will know it is preferred over using a mix of stamps that are interesting to make the correct postage.

I assume there will also be merchandise with these too. USPS has been good about adding bookmarks, Field Notes notebooks, ceramic pins etc with some of their stamps releases.

Congratulations to all of you who worked for so many years to make these USPS stamps happen! It’s a huge achievement — you really managed to overcome the bureaucratic hurdles. As for the design itself, the triangular shape is absolutely brilliant. Personally, I would have preferred a more muted colour palette, but I do like the chosen themes and their message. My favourite is the astronaut — I would love to receive a letter from space.

I nearly screamed out loud when I saw that these were coming! This is such an awesome opportunity for Postcrossing to expand and just become even greater! I may not be as hard-core as some of you, but I strive to be and am an advocate daily for anyone who loves postcards! I'm very fortunate to be going to the World Show in Boston in May, so this will be an exciting thing to experience! Surely, they will have a release ceremony for these! They would be foolish not to!
